On Fitness and Life .... 

Very often people ask me how I manage to work full time, teach aerobics, go to school part-time, take karate lessons and still find time for my husband, friends and family!  I tell them that its all about good time management and making fitness one of your priorities in life.  


Most people tell me that after a long day at work or at school they could not imagine heading out to the gym.  By this time of the day, they are already feeling burnt out and they just want to go home and rest.  Although it may sound ironic to them, I explain that my energy is actually a result of all my hard work and exercise!  In my opinion, exercise makes me a healthier, happier and more energetic person.  

The physiological benefits of exercise are obvious... improved cardiovascular health, better muscle tone, increased bone density... the list goes on.  However fitness also effects us mentally.  It stimulates us.  It gives us more energy.  It makes you feel more alive.  For many of us it improves our self-esteem and self-confidence.  As well, after a good workout, you are able to sleep bet ter.... which just gives you more stamina for the next day!  

The point is... although it may seem hard to get up and do some type of physical activity in the beginning... don't quit.  Take it one step at a time.  Don't expect overnight miracles.   You will soon see the benefits of all your hard work.  

One more thing.  I have personally found that learning to push myself physically has helped me in all other aspects of my life.  I feel that it has taught me to persist.  Whether the challenge be at work or at school.... I always feel confident that I can take on the challenge and succeed... as long as I work hard.  Your brain is just like any other muscle.  It has to be conditioned.  With the proper training and hard work  you can teach it  to do almost anything!
